Historical Sites Of Newport Beach

Newport Beach is rich in history, with several key landmarks that date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Here are a few notable historical sites:

Balboa Pavilion:

Established in 1905, this iconic structure was once the terminus for the Red Car of the Pacific Electric. Today, it is a lively spot filled with shops, a chartering company, and a restaurant, giving visitors a glimpse into Newport's past while enjoying modern amenities.

McFadden's Wharf:

Built in 1889 by James and Robert McFadden, this wharf played a significant role in establishing Newport as a shipping port, especially for lumber transportation from Northern California.

Old Landing:

This site was the original port, set up in 1870 by the McFaddens. While much of the area is now modernized with highways and bridges, parts of the Old Landing remain vacant, preserving some of its historical significance.
These sites are excellent for those interested in exploring Newport Beach's roots and seeing how the area has evolved over time.
